WINNER 2010 Pro Bono Publico Grant Award
Founded in 1993, We Care Jacksonville, a non-profit organization, represents a grass roots coalition of physicians, nurses, dentists, hospitals, public health facilities, other allied health professionals, clerical personnel, and local church groups. Together they bring desperately needed primary and specialty care to those who need it most - the uninsured, the homeless, and medically underserved people of Jacksonville.
After Sister DeSales Wisniewski, We Care President since 1993 retired in 2008, the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Advised Fund (management by the Community Foundation) provided funding to continue We Care and also to be used for expanded Programmatic offerings and organizational development.
Sue Nussbaum, MD, MBA was hired as Executive Director in 2009 and submitted the Pro Bono Publico grant application on behalf of We Care, making a compelling case for professional marketing support to bring We Care to the next level.
We began by working with Sue and the Board of Directors to distill mission and vision statements as well as key messages. From this evolved the positioning statement. With this foundation, we developed a brand identity to communicate these ideas graphically. While brochure and website were being developed, we supported We Care with Public Relations – which resulted in Sue being named a 2010 Woman of Influence -- and Social Media Marketing. We helped plan the 1st Annual Caring Awards honoring Sister DeSales and others in the healthcare community who have been cornerstones of We Care through the years. The new brand was unveiled at the event for which we designed invitations, program, banners, posters, and commemorative lapel pins.
